BOP helped lay the foundations for East Bank, one of London’s most ambitious cultural districts, turning a bold vision into a deliverable reality and positioning it as a powerhouse for creativity, education, and economic growth.

East Bank is one of London’s most ambitious cultural and educational districts, bringing world-class museums, universities, performance venues, and creative industries together on the site of the former Olympic Park. Conceived to be a magnet for talent, investment, and audiences, it represents a transformative cultural regeneration project for East London and the city as a whole.

Over the course of 7 years, BOP Consulting worked with a range of partners—including the Greater London Authority, University of the Arts London to help turn this vision into a deliverable reality. We were commissioned to develop the Arts and Culture Strategy for the Olympic Park, setting benchmarks, governance models, and organisational structures to ensure its long-term success.

In addition to this strategy, our role extended across multiple other key strategic initiatives to shape the district:

  • Smithsonian Institution – Provided strategic planning for its proposed move to the site, including governance models and organisational structures.
  • London’s Fashion District – Developed the strategy to grow local creative industries and position East London as a global fashion innovation hub.
  • V&A and other partners – Delivered a range of projects to develop infrastructure and programming that would underpin the district’s cultural offer.
