BOP Consulting, working in partnership with Technopolis, is supporting DCMS to better understand how artificial intelligence (AI) is affecting the sectors under its remit.

In response to rapid technological change, the UK Department of Culture Media and Sport (DCMS) commissioned a clear, cross-sector view of where AI is creating opportunities, risks, and policy gaps for the creative economy.

BOP is leading a rapid evidence review and an extensive consultation across cultural, heritage and tourism, sectors. Drawing together insights from literature and stakeholder engagement, we developed a structured SWOT analysis to identify strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats linked to AI adoption.

Our work provides a foundation for evidence-based policymaking—helping DCMS prioritise interventions, coordinate responses across government, and plan for the long-term transformation of its sectors.
